Avalon Park is a neighborhood community located in unincorporated Orange County, Florida, United States. It is a community built on the principle of New Urbanism, also known as Neo-Traditionalism. Avalon Park is a community that is less than 15 years old with more than 1,400 swimming pools.
Avalon Park is developed on 1,860 acres (7.5 km2) of land in southeastern Orange County, east of Alafaya Trail and south of State Road 50. The community is in Orlando Zip Code 32828. The community is organized in a series of villages, with a Town Center at its core. It is a take on the popular[citation needed] New Urbanism movement, and is the second such community in the Orlando metro area alongside Celebration, Florida. The community is planned to have over 3,400 homesites, which include condominiums, apartments, town homes, and traditional homes. Avalon Park is home to 5 elementary schools (Avalon Park, Stone Lakes, Timber Lakes, Camelot and Castle Creek), a middle school (Avalon Middle), one high school (Timber Creek) and Avalon Tech School. Although Avalon Park is a upper-middle class neighborhood, but crime is on the rise in recent years. There is a detainment center for inmates, an energy plant, and landfill all within 10 miles of the neighborhood. The University of Central Florida is with 10 miles as well. Avalon Park is 15 miles from Disney, and Universal Studios, large attractions in Orlando, Florida.
