The Management Back Story - "The beginnings of something more."
In 1996 our managing partner, Jim DeBerry, broke into the swimming pool industry working for a small business and family owned swimming pool retail storefront filling chlorine bleach containers, selling filters, pumps, heaters, and learning how small store fronts operate. From these simple beginnings it laid the foundation of a bright future in the Swimming Pool Industry. After a couple of years, he moved on to work for POOLCORP, the nation’s largest swimming pool parts distributor. At PoolCorp, Jim was able to further his knowledge in parts, operations, vendor relationships, and customer service. DeBerry was later lured into furthering his craft and holding management capacities for some of West Palm Beach’s heaviest hitters, Builder, Clearwater Pools and Service Company, Century Pool Service. Underneath both companies respectfully, he was able to meet and exceed expectations. DeBerry later would be recruited by housing industry giant, Leor Company. Upon arrival at the Pooler, Georgia company headquarters DeBerry was given the senior level position of Area Division Manager for the swimming pool division of Leor. Leor Pools focused primarily on New Pool Construction, as part of the 40 million dollar enterprise, DeBerry was able to utilize resources not typical to most. Churning out television commercials, radio advertisements, publications, home shows, and other aggressive marketing strategies, DeBerry was able to create a presence in 4 states and over 30 counties. Prior to the housing market bubble burst, he was recruited to stabilize one of the largest American based Pool Service Companies with Miami, Florida based Pool Service America. While holding the Executive Level position of General Manager and Company Qualifier for Pool Service America, DeBerry began building on a customer base, largely affluent, that would later diversify to expand company revenues. The expansion also included the company's newly minted renovation division. DeBerry, along with the CEO developed the Management Trainee Program and created multiple tiers of Pool Service programs for customers, as well as designing and implementing the nationally renowned “White Collar Service” training program gearing towards turning pool guys into Recreational Water Professionals. After hundreds upon hundreds of pools built, serviced, repaired, and renovated, DeBerry reached the point where working for someone else offered him nothing more to achieve. So, Mr. DeBerry was offered and accepted the position of partial owner and later succeeding Amy Hamilton as Managing Partner of the company. Under DeBerry's tutelage Aqua Pool Dealer has grown vastly from its origins of ITX. This growth has included the company's merger and acquisition of multiple pool routes. With overall expansion, including organic business growth, APD has become a positive part of the workforce within our community. Today Aqua Pool Dealer is considered one of the most recognizable and distinguished companies for consumers and employment alike within the swimming pool industry. Aqua Pool Dealer is unique in the sense, as it is a growing small business but with big business experience and leadership. Aqua Pool Dealer is a complete diversified Pool Company with the ability to provide quality service to a large coverage area all while maintaining profitable business practices in a very competitive industry along with meeting reasonable customer expectations. Our tireless dedication includes the phrase "Did we do enough, to get the customer to want to come back and earn the person and his fellow peers business in the future?" Our company is proud to have some of the brightest and most experienced individuals to have come aboard from other industries and within the swimming pool trade to call Aqua Pool Dealer home. Due in large part to our associates, they have enabled us to reach heights that would have been much harder without them. We decided to create a program that offers them another opportunity within, to find even more success and a place to call home for the long term.
